2011 FMSC Mobile Pack Event

Goal :
Mostly the same as last year, help children in need physically and spiritually, educate community on world hunger, package 193,000 meals, raise $46,320.

UPDATE : 194,400 meals packed, over $45,000.00 raised and counting... photos coming soon.

What :
Bulk food is brought in on a truck, volunteers package/assemble the food into meals, meals are shipped to children in need. 193,000 meals @ 24¢ per meal = $46,320.

When :
Mobile Pack Event, October 6-8, 2011. See sidebar at right for timeline and other info.

Where :
4651 40th Avenue, Hudsonville, MI, 49426, behind Doug & Cindy Veltema's residence.

Why :
God calls us to help those in need... "...whatever you did for the least of these... you did for me." (Matthew 25:40) We can also partner with our local community in accomplishing this event, thereby offering everyone a way to help children in need around the world. And, it's FUN! Goal :
Help children in need physically and spiritually, educate community on world hunger, package 180,000 meals, raise $30,600.

UPDATE : GOAL EXCEEDED! 192,496 meals packed, $35,543.61 raised!

What :
Bulk food is brought in on a truck, volunteers package/assemble the food into meals, meals are shipped to children in need. 180,000 meals @ 17¢ per meal = $30,600.

When :
Mobile Pack Event, October 7-9, 2010.

More info on FMSC :
Feed My Starving Children was founded in 1987. It is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Christian organization committed to “Feeding God’s Starving Children Hunger In Body and Spirit”. The approach is simple... children and adults hand-pack meals designed especially for starving children, and FMSC ships the meals to more than 60 countries around the world.

FMSC produces a unique food formula which was designed specifically for severely malnourished children by Minnesota food scientists. The meal consists of: rice, textured soy protein, dehydrated vegetables, 20 vitamins and minerals, with a chicken flavoring.

Even though there are specific sites in the US where you can volunteer to package these meals, FMSC also offers Mobile Events where the site comes to your town and in 2-3 days, meals are prepared and packaged and sent on their way. This is what Zutphen and our community did on Oct 7-9, 2010.
